I am planning on doing some coverage of municipal elections on this website. My hope is to send a few questions to all of the major candidates to find out their stance on a number of important issues for cyclists in their municipality.

I have some thoughts on the types of questions to ask. However, I would like the input of others on what would be the best questions. I expect that their may be some municipalities where we may want to ask special questions for the municipalities.

Here is a first draft of the questions to ask:

1. How often and what type of bicycle riding do you do?
2. What do you feel are the priorities for future cycling upgrades in your municipality?
3. Should your municipality require to buildings to accomodate cyclists?

The important dates for the election are:

• Tuesday, October 4 - Nomination period begins
• Friday, October 14 - Nomination period ends
• Wednesday, November 9 - Required advanced voting opportunity (municipalities may offer additional opportunities.
• Saturday, November 19 - VOTING DAY
