Alan Nixon, District of North Vancouver, RespondsAlan Nixon is a current Council member up for re-election in the District of North Vancouver. 1. What type of bicycle riding do you do and how often? Recreational road cycling 2-3 times per month. 2. What do you think your municipality has done well in cycling and where do you feel improvements are needed? Talked well about it. Staff have spent a great deal of time on it but Council has repeatedly failed to provide any significant funding for implementation. I think we did a good job of incorporating cycling into the new Dollarton Bridge and the New Dollarton Highway but that's about it! 3. Do you feel more money should be spent on cycling programs and what do you feel the priorities for spending should be? I do feel more money should be spent on recreational and commuter cycling. The money needs to be spent on engineering works that will then allow us to apply for matching or whole funding from the province or Translink. If we dont have the engineering done we wont get any funding from the outside agencies.
