John Sharpe, District of North Vancouver, respondsJohn Sharpe is a candidate for Council in the District of North Vancouver. 1. What type of bicycle riding do you do and how often? I am a recreational cross country mountain biker two to three times a week. 2. What do you think your municipality has done well in cycling and where do you feel improvements are needed? NVD has provided some good bicycle lanes but more are needed with better link ups. More of an emphasis is needed on bicycle use to encourage people 'out of their cars' such as security at storage points. 3. Do you feel more money should be spent on cycling programs and what do you feel the priorities for spending should be? More money should be spent on my points in question 3). I do not think the taxpayer should foot the entire bill for bicycle improvements on the North Shore especially off-road cycling. That should be a cost sharing effort from the GVRD and Grouse Mountain Resorts but so far NVD council has been remiss in implementing this. If isn't already the case, more Provincial money should be allocated to further enhance bicycle commuting.
