Cycling BC

Cycling BC is the provincial governing body for the sport of cycling in British Columbia. We represent the full range of disciplines including Road, Track & Cyclo-cross, Mountain Biking and BMX. Cycling BC is a not-for-profit association registered under the BC Societies Act.

North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA)

The North Shore Mountain Bike Association is an non-profit charity organization dedicated to the accessiblity of trails and support of mountain biking on the North Shore.
Specifically:

  • To keep trails challenging
  • To be a voice for mountain biking on the North Shore
  • To maintain the trails
  • To keep the trails open
  • To promote respect for the environment through cooperative trail maintenance & education
  • To promote multiple use of trails & etiquette

They maintain and sell the best maps of the north shore mountain bike trails that are available. These can be purchased from most bicycle shops in Greater Vancouver that are serious about mountain biking.

Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC)

The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition is a registered non-profit organisation formed to present a clear voice for transportation cycling in the Vancouver-Lower Mainland area. The VACC is comprised of concerned cyclists fron various municipalities in the Lower Mainland.

This organization is a hands-on organization and is represented on many different committees addressing cycling in the Lower Mainland.

Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST)

Since 1991, BEST has been offering innovative programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and climate change, and to inform people about the environmental, health and community issues surrounding transportation. Our programs encourage and motivate people to cycle, walk, carpool, and use public transit more often.

BEST is probably the best funded organization in the Lower Mainland. They get grants from various levels of government, private companies and inidividuals. They put out a lot of information and promotion on all sorts of clean transportation including cycling. Their website is at www.best.bc.ca.
